Our story
Rose Marie Schafer resides in a secluded picturesque log cabin in southern Indiana where she now does artwork. Rose Marie is active in church ministry and works part time as a DSP (Direct Support Professional) in a group home aiding women with disabilities. Rose Marie Schafer graduated cum laude from Murray State University with a bachelors of science degree and a minor in fine arts. Her undergraduate degree was directed towards a career in medical illustration. However, God had other plans. The accomplishments in an unplanned direction consisted of raising two children from home and schooling through high school. Rose Marie taught art for local homeschool groups, the library, and privately. She gave instruction in watercolor, charcoal, and acrylic painting. She also received commissioned portraits of mostly horses and pets. One of her portraits was featured on the cover of Pinto Horse Magazine. Rose Marie was also featured on the cover of Northeast Indiana Tourism Guide. Her diversity is exhibited as she designed logos for several businesses and was the recipient for the design used on the Old Fort Coin Club’s 50th anniversary token. Rose Marie was instrumental in the illustrations in a chapter of “Haschek and Rousseax’s Handbook of Toxicologic Pathology.” During her homeschooling years, Rose Marie also exhibited locally at galleries, solo exhibits, art shows, and outdoor events. She received numerous awards and was spotlighted several times in winning best of show. Her children, who were studying under her also were consistently distinguished receiving top awards.
